Digital still camera, desktop printers, and other imaging products distort images. Ideally, these products would be designed so that the visual image quality would be the best possible for a specific economic cost of the product.
At UT Austin, we have developed two automated methods for assessing image quality. We have implemented these methods in Matlab. The project would be to design and implement a Web-based interface to the image quality assessment framework. A user would connect to the Web site, give the URL for an original image and processed image, and the Web-based framework would return visual quality measures.
The potential impact of this senior design project would be to aid image processing algorithm developers in the optimization of the visual quality of products that use
