Paper

Abstract

This paper presents an efficient method for updating echo canceller taps in ADSL transceivers during transmission. The new method improves on the method by Ho, Cioffi, and Bingham in that it converges faster, improves the stability to perturbation, and is not prone to bias from pilot tones. The algorithm improved the SNR of the Motorola CopperGold ADSL Transceiver by 2 dB, and prevents a loss of 23 dB when the hybrid circuitry heats up by 10 degrees Celsius.
