Example Login Files
Prof. Brian L. Evans
When you log into a Unix system, the system will always execute
.cshrc
if you are using C shell and
.kshrc
if you are using the Korn shell.
I divide my login files into four files:
- .cshrc
generic settings including the path and dynamic library path
- .mycshrc
settings of environment variables specific to the cluster
- .mylogin
shell settings for interactive sessions (e.g. cdpath)
- bin/scripts/ptarch
returns the machine architectures such as sol2
(it is also installed as /usr/local/packages/ptolemy/bin/ptarch)
