Garg #Abstract Research in the monitoring of general global conditions in a distributed system has not considered operation in a faulty environment. In this paper we consider a distributed message-passing system with the following classes of failures: process crash, channel (or link) severance, and message loss. We present a method for detecting conjunctive local and channel predicates which is able to operate in the presence of these failures. Our approach is truly distributed, a requirement for the algorithm to remain live under these classes of failures. We avoid the use of control messages, instead piggybacking information to application messages. Previous research in this area has either not considered a faulty environment, or not considered general predicates. #Bib @InProceedings{, author = "J. Roger Mitchell and Vijay K.
