José A. Joao

I am a PhD student at the ECE Department at the University of Texas at Austin, in the HPS Research Group, supervised by Prof. Yale N. Patt.

My research area is high-performance computer architecture. I'm especially interested in cooperative solutions involving software (language / compiler / operating system) and microarchitecture to improve performance and energy efficiency. I worked at Microsoft Research in the summer of 2007 and at Advanced Micro Devices in the summer of 2005. I received the Microelectronics and Computer Development fellowship from UT Austin during 2003-2005. Before I came to the U.S., I taught Digital Systems at Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco, Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina.
