How to forward ECE emails to any other email account

All EE306 related emails from us would come to your ece email accounts (ECE_user_ID@ece.utexas.edu). If you do not (and cannot) check your ece email account regularly, you can forward all emails coming to your ece account to any other email account of your choice (e.g. gmail). Here are steps to do it:

Log on to an ece windows machine. Open notepad program. The first (and only) line of this file should be the email address where you want your emails to be forwarded to. E.g. if a student wants his/her ece emails forwarded to student_email@gmail.com, he/she should put student_email@gmail.com as the first (and only) line of the file.
Now click the file menu, and choose "Save as...". Choose "all types" as the file type, and ".forward" as the name of the file. Make sure to save the file in H: drive (your home directory in windows).
Your email forwarding is active. Make sure to test the forwarding by sending an email to your ece account.
In order to stop the forwarding, either delete the .forward file from your home directory, or rename it to something other than .forward.
