Abstract:

We proposed a generalized multiuser linear multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) algorithm for the MIMO broadcast channel with other-cell interference. The proposed algorithm exploits interference whitening and eigen-combining techniques at the receiver. Using feedback consisting of the interference plus noise covariance matrices, it is then possible to evaluate the nulling matrix for each user to overcome the dimensionality constraint of conventional block diagonalization. Numerical results confirm that the proposed algorithm improves the sum rate performance as the number of receive antennas increases. This improvement results from maximizing the eigen-combining gain of the pre-whitened channel that increases with the number of receive antennas.
