Lecture by Prof. Brian Evans
Before Lecture
Announcements
- "Stanford gurus enable two-way radio communications",
Feb. 18, 2011.
- "Music therapy
'may help cut tinnitus noise levels'",
BBC News, December 29, 2009.
Proposed treatment for tinnitus (a.k.a. "ringing of the ears")
alters "participants' favourite music to remove notes that match the
frequency of the ringing in their ears."
Good application for notch filters.
- Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio, replied:
"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat.
You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles.
Do you understand this?
And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they
receive them there.
The only difference is that there is no cat."
