This is the view from my office for the week in the Engineering Science building at the University of Auckland. A bit better you'd have to say that my non-view in the Engineering Science (ENS) building at UT Austin.

I like these trees, they are a strange cross between a palm tree and a fern. A bit like New Zealand itself, they seem to be a mix between a south pacific island and a temparate European forest.

Sydney, Australia:

Bronte Beach, Sydney. This is one of a beautiful string of "Eastern Beaches" on Sydney's easy coast.



Looking back towards Bronte and Tamarama beaches on the way to Bondi (Bond - eye).



The famous Bondi Beach. It's August (i.e. February for us Northerners), so nobody is sunbathing.

Very typical Sydney urban architecture. Reminds a bit of New Orleans with the (excessively) ornate trim, and London with the narrow footprint with no driveway.
