        if we draw logic gates such as AND OR NOT NOR XOR, etc., 
        will we have to draw
        them out using transistors or are we going to be 
        allowed to just represent them
        with their respective symbols

If I ask you to draw a transistor circuit, I will expect you to draw
transistors.  If I ask you to draw a logic circuit, I will expect you
to use symbols for gates.
