A student is confused because we did not provide the data path he should use: Hello Again Dr. Patt, I am again looking at problem 1c of the 2008 final exam and i have yet another question. I have no clue whether you talked about this in lecture or not, but what exactly are the source 0 and source 1 inputs into mux A. In other words, where in the data path is Mux A and what are the source 0 and source 1 inputs? Are they asking about the source registers or Select Lines? Sincerely, <<name withheld to protect the student who is confused and it is my fault>> I am embarrased to say, we did not scan in the sheets we put in at the end, which in this case means you have no idea where Mux A is (unless you can figure it out from the context, which frankly should not be difficult to do). Nonetheless, we should have scanned in the data path. I apologize for that also. If you read the text of Problem 1c, you note that it is talking about loading MDR from two different places. Therefore you should be able to infer that Mux A is the mux feeding the MDR. The left input to that mux is source 0, the right input is source 1. Again, I apologize for not including the data path. Good luck on the final exam. Yale Patt
