Fri, 11 Oct 2019, 00:39 The review session Monday night
My students, I just want to reinforce the message you got earlier today from CANVAS about a review session Monday night. I will also mention it in class on Monday. Many years (actually decades) ago, I started the process of holding review sessions in all my classes before the midterms and before the final exams. I used to do them myself, but then some of my TAs wanted to share in the fun so lately I have been letting them do it. The model for the session is that you can come when you want and you can leave when you want. Completely optional whether you come and if you do, for how long. The review session will start Monday evening and go on until all questions are dealt with. Chirag will hold the review session this Monday. The way it works is Chirag will ask, "Are there any questions?" If a student asks a question Chirag will answer it thoroughly and then repeat, "Are there any questions?" The process continues until no one asks a question. Everyone sitting in the room hears all the questions and all the answers. Hard to say how long it will go. The room has been reserved for 4 1/2 hours, but that is irrelevant. As I said above you can come early and stay late or come late and leave early. Completely up to you. They have been as short as one and a half hours and as long as seven or eight hours! I think I had the record for longest from a semester at Berkeley 30 years ago, but I think Chirag had an even longer one last year. Anyhow, I encourage your attendance if you wish. And, if you feel you are not benefitting, no feelings will be hurt if you get up and leave. See you in class on Monday. Yale Patt
