Tues, 19 Nov 2019, 19:55 worth noting: 2nd edition vs 3rd edition

My students,

It has been brought to my attention that in working old exam questions, the
solutions reflect the state machine and data path that existed at the time of
the old exams -- that is, the 2nd edition of the textbook.

The reason I mention this is that in a few instancess, the solution to a
problem on an old exam would be different from the solution today, given the
differences in state machines and data paths in the 2nd and 3rd editions.

This semester, we have started using the new 3rd edition of the textbook, which
does have a few changes to the data path and state machine. Consequently,
any exam questions this semester that require use of the state machine and/or
data path will use those of the third edition.

Good luck on the exam tomorrow.
