My students,

I know it is now after midnight, and some of you are still trying to get Lab 4
submitted before we close it down.  And some of you are burned out and quit
working, and won't see this email until you wake up tomorrow.

The purpose of this email is to reinforce the need to have Lab 4 correct before
you add the requirements of Lab 5.

I have been told by my TAs that some of you were still asking questions to fix
Lab 3 problems last night!  I would like to encourage you to fix Lab 4 as soon
as possible so you can devote yourself to adding the features required by Lab 5,
without having to worry about Lab 4.

In that light, I have decided to change the grading of Lab 4 as follows: 
If your current grade on Lab 4 is x, and you are able to fix Lab 4 between
now and midnight November 25, you can reresubmit Lab 4.  I will change your
grade on Lab 4 from x to 0.6 times x + 0.4 times the grade on your
resubmission.  This means that even if you got 0 on Lab 4, and between now
and November 25, you are able to fix Lab 4, you will get 40% on Lab 4.

I have set the deadline as November 25 in order to give you a week after the
second midterm to fix Lab 4, and still have at least another four days before
the Lab 5 deadline to concentrate on Lab 5 without even thinking about Lab 4.
Obviously, I hope you will continue working on Lab 4 now while it is fresh in
your mind.
