Thu, 11 Nov 2021, 02:29 An email I am NOT happy to write

My students,

We have run the scholastic dishonesty tests comparing the programs each of you
submitted for Programming Lab 2, and have found more than ten clear cases of
cheating. These students will be hearing from me soon, and they will not be
happy with the outcome.

I made it very clear on the first day of class that the programming labs must
be done by you with no collusion with other students in the class, any other
people who might have knowledge or expertise, or solutions you might find via
the internet. Your submissions must be your work, and the ONLY people you are
permitted to get help from are my TAs and me.

There are 176 of you in my class. You have a programming lab due Sunday night.
I know most of you would never think of cheating on it, so I apologize to you
for wasting your time with this email. I am nonetheless sending it tonight
in hopes of detering anyone who is thinking of cheating on Programming Lab 3.

My TAs and I want you to succeed in EE306, and move on to EE319K in January.
And we are committed to helping you as best we can. But cheating is not the
answer.

Good luck on Programming Lab 3, the midterm next Wednesday, and the rest of
the course.
