My students, I am told that tomorrow you will receive information from the CIS department on campus about evaluating your professors and TAs. The evaluations have to be done on line and you will have until December 8 to do them. I want to strongly encourage each of you to evaluate me and the TAS you have spent time with. You should have the ability to evaluate as many of the six TAs that you have spent time with. I explained to CIS that I encourage you to meet with whichever TAs explain things best to you, and that you are not restricted to the TA assigned to the discussion section that you are officially registered for. CIS has told me that you will be able to evaluate all six or some subset of the six as you feel is appropriate. A few comments about the evaluation that I think are important: 1. Please evaluate me and the TAs you have spent time with. There is space in the evaluation form for you to make comments. Please do so. I read every comment that students write, and it makes me a better teacher the next time I teach EE306. 2. CIS has a deadline of December 8 to submit your course evaluation. I would very much appreciate it if you submit your evaluation between 5pm on December 6 and December 8. That is, I would like you to evaluate the *whole* course and you can not do that until *after* the last class on December 6. In the "old days" before covid, we used to do the evaluations on paper forms at the end of the last day of class. Now you can do it early, but it is more helpful if it is done after the last class. Hopefully, you will fill out the form AND you will do it after the last class and before the deadline. 3. One thing that would be interesting to me is to know, when I read your evaluation, whether you came to class in WCH 1.120 most of the time after we moved to in person, or whether you decided to stay on line and watch the lectures over Zoom. You can let me know that by simply saying "in-person" or "Zoom" in the Comments section of the form you fill out. Thanks for reading. See you in class on Monday. Stay safe. Yale Patt
