My "former" students,

We have graded the final exam, and posted the final grades on Canvas.
Congratulations to those of you who will move on to 319K in the Spring,
and good luck to those of you who will have to repeat 306 if you want to
continue in the ECE program.

The final exams will be available for you to look at when you get back to
campus from the semester break in January, and I strongly encourage you to
do so for two reasons. (1) We do not often make mistakes in grading, but
on the other hand we are not perfect either. If we made a mistake in grading
your final exam, I do not want you to be penalized for our mistake. (2) It is
important that you know where you made mistakes on the final exam, as you
prepare to move on to 319K. Going over the exam and comparing your answers
with the solution sheet on the course webpage will strengthen your foundation
as you progress into 319K.

Your exam will be in the office of my secretary Leticia Lira, EER 5.832.
Right now, the plan is to make your exam available for you to look at from
3pm to 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday throughout January. If these
times change, I will let you know.

I have set the following procedure for looking at your exam.

1. Because of space considerations, at most two students will be able to
look at their exams at any one time.

2. To get your exam, show your student ID card to Leticia. She will hand you
your exam. FERPA regulations require that we can allow you to look at only
your exam.

3. Sign the sheet as to when Leticia hands you the exam and then again
when you return it to her. You may take as long as you like to look at the
exam.

4. Stay in the provided area while you look at the exam.

5. Do not write anything on your exam.

6. If you feel there was an error in grading, tell Leticia which problems were
graded incorrectly. She will note that on a post-it which she will attach to
your exam, and give it to me. I will look at your exam and make sure the
problems are graded correctly. If there was an error in grading, I will
correct your grade, and if this results in a change to your final grade in
the course, I will issue a grade change with the Registrar. In any case,
I will inform you of what I do.

6. If you feel there were no errors in grading, return the exam to Leticia
when you are ready, and she will return it to our files.

You are welcome to look at your exam as many times as you wish.

If we need more hours to make the exams available to you, we will adjust the
hours accordingly. If that means spilling into February, so be it. There is
no immediate urgency as to when you bring grading errors to my attention.
Anytime in January is fine, and if we can not finish with everyone in January,
anytime in February will also be ok. As I said, if a grading error results
in a grade change, I will issue that grade change.

Enjoy your time away from campus, recharge your batteries, and please stay safe.
The virus appears to be stronger than ever.

My students,

I have just been informed that my secretary will be working from home the
week of January 3, so your exams will not be available for examining until
the following week, starting Tuesday, January 11.

Enjoy the break, and stay safe.
