Society of First Year Engineers Flyer
My students, There is an organization of first year engineering students that asked me if I could distribute this flyer to the students in 306. My general attitude is to accommodate such requests ...as long as it does not get out of hand. In any case the flyer is attached to this email. Whether or not you use the information is completely up to you. Having some activity that allows you to relax from the pressure of ECE is in generaal a good thing provided you do not overdue it. One piece of advice I will give, however. We have Expo coming up soon. This is an even where a lot of companies come to UT to interview students for summer internships and permanent employment. There has been a suggestion that students should be encouraged to cut class in order to attent Expo. I very strongly disagree. Yes, students should attend Expo, BUT you should work your attendance around the demands of your courses. Yes, companies are looking for future employees, but they want employees who have mastered what they were taught in class. Simply put, classes come first. BUT it is also possible to find time outside of class time to visit Expo. The value of Expo is you might connect with someone from a company that results in a summer internship. See you in class on Wednesday. YNP
