Thank you for bringing this to my attention. If the grade on Lab 1 appears to deduct too many points for what you think was a simple, sloppy mistake, I would like to correct that. What I need you to do is send my TA Sophia a copy of your lab with the sloppy error corrected, a list of all new instructions that were added to your solution along with the original instructions that were deleted. AND I want you to resubmit your lab for grading. You are correct, the portal is not open. When Sophia receives the above information from you, she will open the portal for you for 24 hours so you can submit your corrected program. In a perfect world, the grading script would be able to deduct the appropriate number of points for each error. Unfortunately, in our case, sometimes a simple sloppy error ends up causing problems that go far beyond what we would hope a sloppy error would cause. And I do not want you penalized for that. At the same time, I recognize the temptation on you to fix non-sloppy errors in your program to hopefully improve your grade, claiming that you really understood everything and all the errors were due to simple sloppiness. Please resist that temptation. It will not yield the result you are hoping. I apologize that our grading script is problematic. It is not as easy to fix as you might think. Good luck with the rest of ECE 306. I hope to see you on Monday. Have a good weekend. Yale Patt
