My students, We have fallen behind as far as sticking to the schedule of classes go, so I pushed back the deadline for the first problem set to February 3. I plan on teaching the material of Chapter 2 on Monday, February 1. I prefer to not make the problem set due until after you have had a discussion session so you can get the benefit of the TA session. In addition, I want to make sure you have time to focus on getting the first programming lab in on time (Febrary 7, just before midnight). Given that, I am postponing the deadline on the first problem set to Wednesday, February 10. Problem set 1 will focus on the ISA, but will also containing some microarchitecture material. Froblem set 2, due on February 17 will focus on the material in Chapter 3. Problem set 3, due on Monday, the lecture before the midterm, will cover material on physical memory. My main objective is to give you enough time after my lecture, combined with a TA discussion session, to think about what we have discussed, and do the problems on the problem set. Good luck with the rest of the course. Yale Patt
