My students,

Based on a lot of questions, both after class, and in emails to me, it is
clear that my explanation of the Tomasulo algorithm in class on Wednesday
was not good. So, we have added a couple of things to help you.

Siavash produced an excellent .ppt presentation that takes you through
the processing of the five instruction program segment we discussed in
class on Wednesday. It is available in the course website under "Handouts."

In addition, I have spent a lot of time in one-on-one zoom sessions with
students in the class. We recorded one of them and have put it on Canvas
under "Modules."

I hope these are helpful to your understanding. Out-of-order execution of
instructions is an important microarchitecture technique in modern
microprocessors so I want to be sure you are able to master it.

See you in class on Monday.

Good luck with the rest of the course. ...and please stay safe.
