My students,

I have been asked by several students, since they have not yet started 
Lab 1 and it is due Sunday night, if my TAs can hold extra office hours
this weekend to help them.  I don't need to tell you waht I think about 
leaving the lab for the last minute.

The discussion session today (Thursday) and the two discussion sessions 
on Friday are good ways to try to get up to speed quickly on what needs 
to be done on Lab 1 and how to do it.  I have noticed that a number of 
students have blown off discussion sessions so far this semester -- not 
a good idea.  My TAs are very good, and they are eager to help you if 
you meet them half way.

I also hope that starting next week, you will all get started on the Labs 
early so you can maximize your benefit from the discussion sessions on 
Thursdays and Fridays, which should help you a lot.  At least that is my
intent, and if you do not find that to be the case, please let me know.

Next week you have Lab 2, which is the easiest of the six Labs.  But you 
only have one week to do it, which is plenty of time provided you do not 
leave it for the last minute.

Anyhow, the problem at hand -- extra office hours this weekend.  My TAs have 
agreed to each hold an extra one and a half hour office hours this weekend.  
Check Canvas tomorrow for the exact times of each.

Good luck getting Lab 1 in on time, and good luck with the rest of the 
semester.   ...and stay safe.
