        My students,

        Today's class: American Airlines derailed me yesterday, leaving me in a hotel
        in Philadelphia last night, and my wait for a standby flight today did not
        work, so I am still in Philadelphia and not able to get back to Austin until
        very late tonight.  I have looked at your performance on Lab 1, and although
        some have not caught on yet, I am okay canceling today's class.  Class will be
        as usual on Wednesday.

        Grading Lab 1 and Lab 2: The more I think about it, Labs 1 and 2 are really
        part of the same task, so I am going to do the following.  Whether or not you
        have submited a Lab 1 solution yet, you really need to have done Lab 1 in order
        to test properly Lab 2.  So, if you have not submitted a Lab 1 solution, or
        you wish to resubmit, resubmitting Lab1 before the Lab 2 due date (next Sunday
        night) will get you full credit for Lab 1 with no slack days deducted.  If you
        already got 95 on your submitted Lab 1, although I would not do it, you can
        resubmit to raise that grade to 96 or even 100, but if I were you I would use
        that time more productively.

        My hope is we can get everyone on board.  Chapter 1 of the new textbook is
        almost done.  I hope to focus on it in class on Wednesday.
