My students, Today's lecture was the last lecture of the semester covering 460N material. As promised, Monday's class will be my standard free-for-all where I will spend the time answering questions about anything, technical or non-technical. I am not happy that we did not get to finish what I had planned for today's lecture, the material on multiple threads. -- in particular, Amdahl's Law, interconnection networks, and memory consistency. I could cancel the free-for-all and use that class time, but the students I asked (as has always been the case) look forward to the free-for-all lecture and do not want me to cancel it. What I have decided to do is offer an additional class this Sunday afternoon to teach that material. The class will be completly optional, and nothing we cover will be on the final exam. I leave it conpletely up to you to decide whether you have the time and interest to attend. We will meet Sunday at 4pm. I do not have a room assigned as yet. I expect to have that done tomorrow and it will be posted on the course webpage. I apologize for not getting it done this week, but per too often, things took longer to explain than I anticipated. Whether I see you on Sunday or on Monday, good luck finishing 460N strongly. I am looking forward to you showing me how much you understand on the final exam and on the last Lab. Yale Patt
