Educational/Career Background
Dr. Yale Patt received his BS in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and his MS and PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Currently, Dr. Patt is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Endowed Chair in Computer Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin. His duties include teaching, doing research, advising PhD students, and providing leadership to the computer architecture field. In his career Dr. Patt has also taught at many other universities. He was a professor of engineering at Cornell University for one year, at North Carolina State University for seven years, at the University of California at Berkley for nine years, and at the University of Michigan for ten years. Throughout his career, he has consulted for many companies, including currently Intel and HAL Computer Systems. Along the way he also served in the United States Army for two years.
