d. a1724 | [NEHGR 92:296-301] |
[NEHGR 92:296-301] TB of West Peckham, Co Kent, and Guilford, Milford, and Norwalk. He was the ``Cousin TB, son of Aunt Mary Bridger'' mentioned in the will of Smalehope Bigge, 3 May 1638, and he was at that time apparently still in England. He was ``Cousin Betts'' (in NE) mentioned in the will of John Bigge, 17 August1640. As ``Thomas Beatts'' he received 20 schillings from his aunt by marriage, Rachel (Martin) Bigge.
TB is said to have been in Milford in the summer of 1639 and he was certainly at Guilford before the the first allotment of land in 1644. He removed to Milford once more in 1658 and then to Norwalk in 1660. He was a founder of the new settlement at Wilton (now part of Norwalk) in 1672, but continued to dwell in Norwalk until his death in 1688. TB married presumably in Connecticut Mary --, who survived him and who was still alive 16 March 1723/4 and 16 April 1724 when the town of Norwalk voted lands to Mary Betts and company.
