[Bingham1 1:227-8] Had 5 children. Married 2nd Elizabeth Manning 23 November
1721; she died 27 March 1780, was the daughter of Samuel Manning of
Windham and wife Deborah; had 8 children. Lieut. of Train Band May 1727;
Lieut. and Co Train Band May 1736; Capt, May 1741. Assessor for several
years. Constable. He became a separatist in religion and had 'seen a
new light' and on 16 April 1753 signed a memorial against oppression by the
'stated' or established ecclesiastical laws, which made the people pay
tazes to support the regular or 'standing' minister (Congregational),
whether they also supported a 'separatist' minister or not.

Windham, 1690-93 - tombstone can be seen there. 1671, made 'free' from
Norwich by the General Court. 1676, Townsman or Overseer of the west end
of Norwich; that is a kind of police officer under the constable.
1681 was on the list of freeman as accepted by the General Court of the
Colony. 1683, a constable of Norwich. 1690, still in N, his youngest son
was born there. 30 May 1693, grant confirmed py propietors of Windham; on the
first list of 22 'approved inhabitants' of this date {Town Meeting Records
I:27}. 1695, he was chosen as one of the Selectmen of the Town and is called
Sargeant TB. 1700, one of the original members of the First Church at Windham
10 December. Chosen to be one of the three Deacons, which office he held
until his death; referred to as Goodman Bingham.
[GFHSC 102] Came with widowed mother. Married MR, the celebrated 'Bride
of Bride Brook' (see Caulkins History of New London, ps 48).
