[Bishop ix-x] In April 1639, one of 25 familes in the St. John, under Capt Russell, left England 20 May 1639, landed 16th of September. On 29 September 1639, people of Guilford agreed that the power of administration of the preservation of peace should be in the hands of Robert Kitchell, William Chittenden, John Bishop, and William Leete. JB was a freeman in 1647. He just have been 50 years old when he came to America (hence born c1589). He died January 1660 and his will was probated 7 February 1660. His wife Anne died at the home of her son-in-law, James Steele, in Hartford. Her will was dated 12 June 1673, proven 7 September 1676.
