[NEHGR 47:453-7] HB lived in Roxbury and Woodstock Conn. He died
there at the age of 90. So far as it is known, HB was the only son of
Griffith Bowen whose posteriey now bears the family name.

militia in Capt. Isaac Johnson's comapny, and commanded the company on
the death of IJ in the Great Swamp Fight of 19 December 1675. Removed
to Woodstock in 1686, returned to Roxbury briefly in 1693 but finally
settled in Woodstock in 1707.

[NGSQ 67:3 163-66]Griffith Bowen of Ilston Wales was a minor in 1606
and called "Gentleman of Langwith" in 1621. Son of Francis and Ellen
(Franklin) Bowen and was born in 1600 probably at Langwith where his
widowed mother continued to live in 1638. Married Margaret, d of
Henry and Alice (dawkin) Fleming of Gellihir. GB was a juror of
Surrey for the South Western Manors of Gower in 1632. on 12 May 1638
GB and MB were still in Gower. In the winter of 1638/9 they went to
NE (Boston). They returned to Wales in 1650, resided in Swanzey, and
later to London in 1669. He died c1675.
The had 10 children: Henry, Francis, William, Margaret (m John Weld),
Mary (m Bejamin Child), Elizabeth (M Isaac Addington), Esther (bp
Roxbury Mass, 10 Feb 1638), Abigail (bp Roxbury 10 April 1641), Peniel
(bp Roxbury, 5 April 1644), and Doriah (bp Roxbury, 11 April 1647)

Nickerson, has been accepted by the Descendants of the Illegitimate
Sons and Daughters of the Kings of Britain (Lineage No. 156), and
appears in the Sep. 1979 National Genealogical Society
Quarterly. Essentially the same line, except for the fifth generation
listed, appears in the 7th edition of Ancestral Roots of Certain
American Colonists, by Frederick Weis (1993), and is presented
here. An alternate line to Twdwr Mawr, King of South Wales had been in
the 1964 third edition of Ancestral Roots....
