[NEHGR 69:54] LC was in New Haven as early as 1702, owned land at West Haven, and was one of hte first settlers of the North Haven. Clintonville, a section of North Haven, was named after his family. He had three persons in his family in 1704. He was a communicant of Christ Church, Stratford, on 25 December 1724; but his family belonged to the Congregational Church at North Haven. Will dated 21 September 1742, proved in 1757, he mentions his children and calls himself as then 63 years old.

[NEHGR 69:50-54] Of Ipswich as early as 1665. 2 years later he called himself 24, hence born circe 1643. Nothing known about his ancestry; there are Clintons in Ireland as well as England. Evidently, his relationship with Rachel Halfield was very strange: there was a suit about money from Rachel to buy his freedom from his apprenticeship to Robert Cross. LC served in King Philip's War.
