According to the book, ``The John Whipple House'', published by the Ipswich Historical Society in 1915, Sarah Goodhue, died suddenly three days after she had been deliverdd of two ``hopeful children'', leaving 10 in all surviving. Sarah requested that if she was delivered of a child she wanted her mother and father to have it if it pleased her husband, as he had so many children for whom to care. Also she desired that her cousin, Symond Stacy, should have her son John, if he pleased. She said that her first son Joseph, was to labor in knowledge and that her daughter, Mary, is also to labor. She mentioned that son William was his name for his grandfather's sake and Sarah was named after her mother. These observations were in a letter written to her husband 14 July 1681.
