[Savage 3:584-5] JR of New Haven, perhaps 1640; took oath of fideltiy 1 October 1644; at Saybrook 1646, freeman 1651 at Hartford. married in the winter of 1647 by John Winbtrhop of New London who acted under commission from Mass there and made the couple meet him half way because the snow was so deep, and he had no authority at Saybrook. see Trumbull Coll Rec II. 558; Caulkins, New London, 48. Probably died 1668. Children: Patience, Mary, Jonathan and Nathaniel.

[TAG 51:18] MB aged 12 in 1635. Conjecture by ``the late Miss Bertha W. Clarke, a careful genealogist'', that Mary might have become the wife of JR at Bride Brook as she thought Thomas Birchard was sufficiently influential to persuade Gov John Wintthrop to come down to perform the ceremony.
