Married 1) --, widow of Richard Wallis of Norwich; 2) Hannah Peat, daughter of John, born 6 December 1667 (and hence could not have been his first wife as she would have been too young). Will dated 30 December 1726, codicil 7 January 1726/7, proved 24 February 1726/7 mentions among others daughter Ann wife of Timothy Wheeler. Children by his first wife between 1677 and 1693: Jacob, Jonathan, Ruth (who married Ephraim Treadwell and then John Lacy), Henry, Joseph, Israel, Nathaniel and Ann.

[NEHGR 86:219] SB living in NE after 11 July 1689. Married 1) 20 June 1643, NE, Judah Gregory of Springfield; 2) Henry Wakley of Hartford and Stratford, who in his will dated 11 July 1689, named his wife Sarah, three sons and three daughters.

[Fairfield 1:628] Colonial grant of 50 acres, May 1669, doubtless for service in Pequot War (1637). Granted 200 acres, May 1681, for service to the Colony in or about Mattebeseck [Waterbury] (not laid out until 1716, and then assigned by James, sone of HW, to Benjamin Fairweather of Stratfield). Residcent of Hartford, but removed early to Stratford. His sevice at Mattebeseck probably refers to a punitive expedition of 100 men sent out in August 1639 as a sequel to the Pequot War. Married Sarah, widow of Judah Gregory and daughter of Henry Burt of Springfield. He was granted administration 15 may 1650 on the estate of his wive's other husband. Will dated 11 July 1689, codicil 5 April 1690, exhibited 8 November 1690. Children: Deliverance, James, Jacob, Mary, Patience, Abigail and Mercy.

[Fairfield 1:627] He had lands recorded at Hartford February 1639/40. for several years thereafter, his name frequently appears in law-suits, and he sometimes acted as attorney for others. He married 2?) 5 October 1652 Alice, widow of James Boosey of Wethersfield, and removed there. He was constable of Wethersfield March 1656/7; served on juries 1655-62. Before 1663 he fled from his wife and family to Rhode Island. In May 1663 HW had a power of attorney for James. It seems that James forfeited a bond of 150 pounds which he had given for his appearance, and his housing and land were ordered sold. Attempts of James and Alice to Divorce ech other were unsuccessful. She died at Wethersfield 30 August 1683. He petitioned in 1681 vainly for remission of his forfeiture, and is said to have been living in providence as late as 1690, when he must have been quite old, as he was certainly born by 1610 and we should guess by 1600. The relationship of James to Henry and Richard Wakelee is not exactly determined, but it is reasonable to suppose that they were hs sons by an earlier marriage. Children: Henry, Richard.
