[Windsor1 2:775] First minister at Windsor. Married first ---- who died at Dorchester Mass in December 1634; Married second Jane Newberry (Widow of Thomas Newberry) who died at her daughter's, Hannah Newberry, at Norwalk; married third Abigail (Widow of John Brocker) 9 October 1662. Left a large estate to his family, over which the heirs contended for some time... .P [Hale-House 775-7] Married second, c1637, Jane (?Dabinott) Newbury. Supposed to have come from a good family of Dorset or Devon. A graduate of St Mary Hall, Oxford, BA, 14 November 1614 and MA 18 May 1618. He was ordained at Silverton, Co Devon by the Bishop of Exeter on 23 May 1619. He became minister of Crewkerne, Co Somerset, but because of his Puritansim, was forced to resign by Laud, who was then Bishop of Bath and Wells. he obtained a living at St Sidwells' by Exeter. In 1630 he came to Ne in the Mary and John as one of the party which founded Dorchester Mass and served there as minister for 6 years. In 1636, he moved with a large group of people to Windsor and served as minister until his death in 1670.

Cotton Mather called him an energetic minister and a vigorous preacher, but of melancholy temperament.
