[NYGBR 41:339-44] Purchased a farm in the north parish of New London near Montville near the Norwich line, and there spent the rest of his life and died. His death occured as result of a fall from his horse two days earlier. His tombstone reads 'In Memory of Mr Joseph Willoughby, who died April 10 1751, in the 61st year of his age'. It has been said that he came from Nottinghamshire, England.
