[Newbury] Came to Newbury in June 1762 from Hinsdale. Kept the Ferry. Tradition has it that he married a daughter of Remembrance Wright (Abigail). The date of his wife is unknown but she survived him by several years.

[Hunkins1 3] They resided at Northfield Mass. BW was a sergeant in the Indian Wars and a captain in 1685.

[Burt 241] Married second 19 July 1701 Mary Baker of Springfield. He began his military carreer as a corporal of the company garrison at Northfield. In 1708 as captain commanding scouting parties he entered upon that activity and persistance as an Indian fighter that made his name famous along the whole frontier. His sagacity, strategic subtlety, vigilance and knowledge of woodcraft enabled him to foil and outwit the Indians in their particular artifices.

[Hunkins1 3] A sergeant in the King Phillip's War. Killed by the Indians at Northampton Mass, 2 September 1675. In 1657 he was clerk of the county.

[Burt 241-3] SW jr and EB went with his father to Northampton where he was a Sergeant in the military company. He was an 'engager' for the settlers of Northfield in 1672 and with 7 others was killed in the onslaught of Indians at Aquakheaf on 2 September 1675. His widow married 26 September 1684 Daniel Dickinson of Hatfield.

[NEHGR 86:219] EB married 2nd Nathaniel Dickinson as his second wife. ND had a thrid wife and died in 1710. EB had 8 children by SW.

[Burt 241] Companion of Henry Burt in Springfield. Moved to Northampton in 1655 or 56 and died there while sleeping in a chair. Had 9 children
