[Abell1 36-37] son and heir of Sir George Cotton. We find among the court roles at Combermere that a joint Manor Court was loden there by Richard Cotton, armiger, Seneschel of the said manor. The manor of New Hall was vested in Sir Richard Cotton for 2 portions, and in the Fitzwarings for 1 portion. Sir RC died 1601 aged 62. He seems to have resided at Stoke in the parish of Coventry for the last few years of his life.
He married 1st Mary Mainwaring in 1559 in Combermere. She was the daughter of Sir Arthur Mainwaring, of Ightfield, son of Richard Mainwaring and Dorthea, the daughter of Robert Corbett of Moreton.
He married 2nd, Jane Seyliard, in 1578.
He married 3rd, Philippa, probably the widow of John Dormer of co. Buckingham.
