[Mather 73-75] Graduated from Harvard 1671. Preached at Hatfield, Milford, and Branford, Ct. 1682 settled at Windsor. One of 10 clergy selected to be founders of Yale College.

[Treat 183+] SM preached at Deerfield and after its destruction by the Indians in 1675, went to Hatfield, thence to Branford Conn, whence he was called to Windsor having previously declined a settlement in Milford in 1678. His salary in Windsor was 100 pounds per year. In 1682, he was ordained and remained in Windsor until his death.

[NEHGR 86:244] TM, farmer, only son of RM who was not a minister, was of Dorchester Mass, married Elizabeth (Atherton) Weeks, daughter of Major General Humphrey Atherton and widow of William Weeks, by whom he had several children, and died 14 January 1684/5. From him are descended all the present members of this American family who bear the surname Mather, the descendants in the maile line of other sons of RM having become extinct.

[Savage 3:174] 9 May 1618 was entered of Brazen Nose College, Oxford. Yet soon called to Toxteth where he taught the school and preached his first sermon 30 November. Served for 15 years, was then suspended for non-conformity. Was on the James at Bristol, arrived 17 August 1635. 25 October 1635 joined with Catherine church on Boston.
[Mather2] Settled in Dorchester.
[Mather 33] Married 2nd, Sarah Story, 26 August 1656; daughter of Richard Hankridge of Boston. She married Wm Story and died 27 May 1676. [Savage 3:174] Sarah was the widow of his great friend John Cotton.
[Windsor 483] First sermon 13 November 1618; ordained by Bishop Morton of Chester. Married Katherine Hoult of Bury-in-Lane. Suspended for nonconformity Aug-Nov 1633, and in 1634. Left 15 April 1635 for Bristol, sailed 23 May and arrived in Boston 17 August 1635. At Dorchester as minister of the church there until he died.

[NEHGR 54:348-9] The entry in the Warrington parish register, looks very much as if it might refer to the parents of Richard Mather. ``Thomas Mather & Margrett Abra ...''. There was a family of Abrams or Abrahams in Warrington at the time who were strong Puritans; at all events their children in the first half of the 17th century were, so that this also tends to confirm the supposition.
