[CWM] Mother of IP was either the daugther of Sir Thomas Kennedy in Scotland or a close relative. Another relative was a man by the name of Moon who was a 'govenor' of Wales at one time. Grandmother used to tell about sailing in a small boat from Belfast to the Scottish coast where more of her relatives lived.
[LAM] IP came from east Ireland where her mother had settled after marrying a methodist minister. IP came to this country with 8 silk plaid dresses of very heavy material and rings with diamonds. Mother (Sarah Jane Allen Mell) had a picture of IP with her plaids and rings.
[LAM/CWM] both report that IP came when she was 14 years old in 1857. But the gravestones at the Hanover-Versailles cemetery give her dates as 1838 - 1921.
