[Polley 7] EW is said to have been born in Enlgand about 1627 and came to America with parents and one brother named Joseph. A sister Ann married moses Cleveland, a direct ancester of Grover Cleveland.

[Cleveland1 2420] Conjectured that EW was born in Wales, but more probably in England. He was in Charlestown Mass prior to 18 December 1640 and from or after Feb/March/May 1640/1, he was in Woburn. Married first in England. Joanna ---; married second Sarah Beal, 10 August 1649, who died 15 March 1680; Married third Mrs Ann of Hanna (---) [Page] Wood, who died soon, before 1 November 1686, the widow of Nicholas Wood.

It is conjectured that he was a master builder and came from Ipswich and that Moses Cleveland was his apprentice and accompanied him here. EW was one of the original planters at Woburn. A Freeman 10 May 1643. One of the leading men in the town: officer, surveyor 1658-9; selectman 1669. He was a witness to a deed of George Polley.
