New Fall 2024 Fully-Funded PhD Opportunities in the Human Signals Lab

I am currently looking for smart and creative students interested in a PhD to join the Human Signals Lab at Texas ECE starting in Fall 2024. Generally, my students and I explore a variety of technical challenges at the intersection of wearable and ubiquitous computing, human-computer interaction, activity recognition, and computational health. If you get excited by the research presented at conferences such as CHI, Ubicomp, ISWC, UIST, and Mobisys, this opportunity is for you.

A core area of interest this year is Mobile Health and Automated Dietary Monitoring (ADM). Interested students should have one or more of the following skills and interests:

Prior experience in these areas is not an absolute requirement as long as you are a fast-learner. Good communication skills, both writing and speaking, is key.

If you are interested in applying, please send an email to me at ethomaz at utexas dot edu with your CV, description of your current area of study and why you are interested in joining the group. Also, to be formally considered, you will need to apply to the graduate program at Texas ECE. You can find out more about the admissions process and requirements here. Note that the deadline to apply is December 1, 2023, 11:00 PM CST. Rest assured that I will review your materials and will be in touch if I have any questions or need more information.

Come join us at Texas ECE!
